Beautiful Kohat

 The city of Kohat is the southern division and district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Kohat has a very interesting historical significance in the 16th century BC.In the 16th century BC, the Buddhist King Kohat settled here due to which the city is remembered as Kohat.The city of Kohat was attacked by the Mughal king Babur and defeated the Bangash tribe and took it into his empire.In 1819, Ranjit Singh conquered and occupied this area. In 1836, Rasool Khan Khattak defeated the Sikhs and fled from here.After the British rule on the subcontinent, Kohat came under British possession and in 1848 Lieutenant Polak was appointed as the first Assistant Commissioner of the British for kohat.In 1947, the subcontinent was partitioned and Kohat became a city of Pakistan. According to the 2017 census, the total population of this city is 1,111,266 while the total area is about 2525 km2.Geographically, Kohat is a commercial hub for southern districts of KPK and former FATA agencies. The province is bordered with Punjab, Karak, Aorakzai and Peshawar.

Remnants of the British Era

Khushalgarh Bridge built over the River Indus during the British period is still standing, on which trains used to pass and vehicle below, the river below presents a tourist scene.


After the Sikhs, the British established a military camp in the city of Kohat for the transportation of military movement which is currently under the control of the Pakistan Army.British-era airbase is also under the control of Pakistan Air Force.During the British era, the railway station was founded in 1897, which is still restored. Here was the biggest workshop of Kohat Railway. Now this train runs from Kohat to Lahore.

Shrines of spiritual figures are also in Kohat city, prominently Zinda Pir Ghamgul Sharif and Haji Badr shrine where people from all over the country come for Urs.


Tanda dam  

Tanda Dam is a unique dam of its kind, a protective wall has been constructed on one side only, while the other sides are naturally formed.It has a special importance in agriculture sector while in tourism Kohat is an important tourist destination where local tourists come to enjoy.


Tableghi markaz

The second largest tablighi center in Asia has been built in the same city, where apart from domestic tabligh, congregations for abroad are also formed.A weekly Religious gathering is held on Friday night in which thousands of people from different parts of the country come to participate.


Natural springs

The natural springs in Kohat are a natural gift from Allah Almighty to provide clean and clear water that flows continuously.These natural springs come out of the mountains and offer a beautiful natural view. The water of these springs is cold in summer and hot in winter.


Industries zone

Kohat is also known as the Industries Zone because there are small and large factories here It also has Kohat Cement Factory, Janana Dah Malucho Mill where yarn is made and floor mills due to which the local people are employed.

In terms of education, Kohat University of Science and Technology, Grezan Cadet College, Post Graduate College, Govt Technology College are prominent in Kohat.


Bazaar

Kohat bazaar is built in a perfect arrangement, gates are built on all sides of the bazaar There are sections of different things in the market which are Zargran Bazaar, Charsi Bazaar, Tirabazar, Vegetable Market, Bannu Bazaar respectively.


Kohat Tunnel

This two-kilometer long tunnel, made in cooperation between Pakistan and Japan, connects Kohat and Peshawar, and this two-kilometer long tunnel has also become a tourist attraction.Due to this, the distance from Kohat to Peshawar has been reduced to 71 km.


Famous personality

Ajab Khan Afridi, the hero of the freedom movement and the hero who fought against the British, belongs to Kohat, and the world famous poet Faraz Ahmad Faraz also belonged to Kohat.
